Full Biography: SUYOUNG LEE, lyric baritone, has appeared extensively in various styles of operas from Baroque to Contemporary. Mr. Lee recently appeared as Don Giovanni. His other major roles include Father (Hansel and Gretel), Marcello (La Boheme), Ottone (Coronation of the Poppea), Vicar (Albert Herring), and Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro). As a soloist, Mr. Lee has performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Händel’s Messiah, and Haydn’s Creation with Chicago Oratorio Association. Suyoung was a special talent scholarship awardee in 2018-19 from Arizona State University, a scholarship awardee in 2012 from The Bruce Foote Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a 2nd prize winner of Larry day Memorial Competition and the University of Arizona President Competition in 2019, and has won several competitions in Seoul, South Korea, including the 21st Music Journal Competition and the 38th Music Education Newspaper Company Competition.
Mr. Lee Received the Master of Music from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and holds the Performer’s Diploma from Southern Methodist University where he was named a recipient of a Meadows Artist Scholarship Award. He received the Bachelor of Music from the Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea. Suyoung has studied under baritone, Gordon Hawkins, tenor Allan Glassman, and baritone Richard Stilwell. Mr. Lee is currently pursuing his D.M.A at the University of Arizona under Dr. Andrew Stuckey.
