Each season the faculty of Spotlight on Opera at Tulsa Opera welcomes our students with a fun, informal serenade of opera, Broadway, and a few surprises! The public is invited to join in the fun and the reception that follows. Admission is FREE, but you must reserve a ticket as space is limited.

There’s nothing more exciting than catching a rising star. Aria Extravaganza is that moment. It’s your first opportunity to hear Spotlight’s exciting new talent for the 2025 season. These amazing emerging artists will serenade you with some of your favorite arias from best-loved operas, with a few surprises mixed in.

Puccini’s fieriest heroine, most gallant hero, and vilest villain unite for this thrilling score filled with passion and fervor for this gala concert benefitting the Spotlight on Opera at Tulsa Opera Scholarship Fund. With “Vissi d’arte”, the Te Deum, and “E lucevan le stelle,”  it’s an unforgettable night of musical grandeur,

The whole company, students and faculty alike, teams with the Tulsa Opera Orchestra. Spotlight faculty Elizabeth Herlitz Cortés, Nicholas Simpson, and Andrew Stuckey as Tosca, Cavaradossi, and Baron Scarpia lead the cast.

CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA

In a tiny 19th century Sicilian town, honor is everything, and lost honor demands blood. 

When Santuzza discovers that her lover, Turiddu, has abandoned her for his former girlfriend Lola, her anguish and fury lead her to a momentous decision that changes their lives forever.  

Mascagni’s lush, romantic score boasts melody after melody, from the uplifting Easter chorus to the heart-wrenching “Voi lo sapete, o mamma,” the joyous Brindisi to Turiddu’s sorrowful farewell to his beloved mother. The cast of Spotlight students and alumni guest artists offer the incomparable delight of catching budding stars on the rise.

Violetta is the most beautiful, charming woman in all of Paris, and men flock to her and her famous parties --- but she harbors a terrible secret. Can the love of the ardent young Alfredo defeat his father’s objections and overcome the obstacles to their happiness?  

Verdi’s most beloved opera traces a tale based on true life, set to some of his most glorious music: the Brindisi, “De miei bollenti spiriti,” “Di Provenza,” and of course, Violetta’s exuberant anthem, “Sempre libera.” Don’t miss a note of this exciting young cast of Spotlight students as they shine on their way to stardom.
