Joanna Ehlers, mezzo-soprano

Joanna Ehlers is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music at UMKC where she studied vocal performance, earning both a bachelor and master of music degrees. Past opera roles include Dryad (Ariadne auf Naxos) Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible) Carmen (Carmen) Charlotte (Werther) and Mother Marie (The Dialogues of the Carmelites). Most recently, Joanna appeared as Foreman of the Jury in Landlocked Opera Inc.’s inaugural production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury.” Among her many musical ventures, Joanna has performed with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, the Ancora Chorale, KC VITAs Chamber Choir, Cardinalis Chamber Choir, Kantorei KC, Ignea Strata, the Missouri Oratorio Society and Te Deum Chamber Choir. She is a current Company Artist with Moon River Opera. In 2019, Joanna joined the GRAMMY-Award winning Kansas City Chorale under the direction of Charles Bruffy. Joanna is an accomplished equestrian and freelance writer who enjoys the out of doors and traveling with her family.
