Lyanne Alvarado

Lyanne Alvarado is an emerging soprano whose “passion and spirit” (Sulzbach-Rosenberger Newspaper) is evident on the operatic stage. Most recently, Lyanne performed the role of Le Prince Charmant in dress rehearsals for Texas State Opera Theater’s production of Cendrillon before it was canceled due to COVID-19. Post COVID-19 restrictions, she looks forward to taking on her first professional cover role as Micaëla with Texas Concert Opera Collective’s production of Carmen, as well as assume a spot in the chorus.

Recently, Lyanne appeared as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte with Texas State Opera Theatre. She also learned the role of Zerlina from Don Giovanni as a part of an Independent Role Study under the coaching tutelage of conductor/coach Kristin Roach. This summer, Lyanne was a featured soloist in a series of online concerts with The DIY Summer Program, an online opera program led by Cindy Sadler. She also performed in an online Masterclass for both Clare Burovac and Christopher Mattaliano. Previously Lyanne sang the role of La Ciesca in the production of Gianni Schicchi for InterHarmony’s Sulzbach-Rosenberg International Music Festival (SRIMF) in Germany. While at SRIMF, Lyanne also sang in masterclasses for Outstanding Guest Vocalist, world-class mezzo soprano Christa Mayer and SRIMF voice faculty member, bass George Hogan. Other international endeavors include a scenes performance as Tisbe from Cenerentola, and Susanna from Le nozze di Figaro for Lingua e Canto, an opera intensive program in Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy led by Dr. Robin Fisher.

Lyanne completed her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Texas State University (TXST). She was proudly awarded the Graduate Teaching Assistantship for the Texas State Opera department. Lyanne was a Finalist in the Texas State Aria and Concerto Competition. Through recommendation of TXST voice faculty members, she was also awarded The Graduate College Scholarships & Celebrity Classic Scholarship. With the help of her mentor and opera director Dr. Marc Reynolds, Lyanne created a summer opera program for high school students, Opera By The River. Before pursuing her Masters, Lyanne formerly was a middle school assistant choir director in Carrolton Farmers Branch ISD.

To her colleagues, Lyanne Alvarado is known as hard-working, sassy, a fearless leader, and a team player. She has experience in dance, teaching choreography, and is a fluent Spanish-speaker.
