Hayley Zavada, soprano
Full Biography: Hayley Zavada hails from Vilonia, Arkansas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Central Arkansas. Hayley is currently working on her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Vocal Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Opera credits include Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Clover/Ida/Cotton (Petunia), Marguerite (Faust), Sister Rose (Dead Man Walking), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Suor Genoveffa (Suor Angelica), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), Lulu (The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County) and Lola (Gallantry). Hayley has also been in numerous musical theatre productions, and has been a soloist in many concert works such as Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and A Ceremony of Carols. In 2019 and 2020, she presented new works and lecture recitals at the Music by Women conference in Columbus, MS. She is an adjunct instructor of voice at Washington and Lee University and Sweet Briar College and has participated in the educational outreach program for Opera in the Rock. This is Hayley’s second year with Spotlight on Opera, where she will be singing Goldie in Goldie B. Locks and the Three Singing Bears, as well as the Cat in L’enfant et les sortileges. She will also be covering the Nightingale in L’enfant.
