Gwendolyn Delaney
Mezzo-soprano
Originally from Boise, Idaho, mezzo-soprano Gwendolyn DeLaney now resides in Cleveland, Ohio and studies voice with Dr. Mary Schiller at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has most recently been seen as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro with Chicago Summer Opera and as the Zweite Knabe in Die Zauberflöte with Lah-sow Austin. This summer with Spotlight on Opera, she will be appearing at Petunia in Petunia and in the choruses of Daughter of the Regiment, Don Giovanni, and Il trovatore. Her musical interests expand beyond the world of opera, and some of her most recent work has been as the founder and artistic director of The Offbeat Song Project. The goal of the project is to take art song and contemporary opera into non-traditional venues in non-traditional ways. This spring she produced two concerts under the Offbeat umbrella: A Queer Cabaret and Too Young to Drink: Opera of the Last 20 Years.
